Awesome. Thanks. How do I get each of those individual links in case I want to do another show, too?

"Please don't ask at this forum if there is a way to download the soundboards. The answer is yes, however it is not the wishes of the band so we choose not to discuss this here as most of us are content with the current arrangement. In late 2005 we lost access to everything and that sucked and none of us want to risk revisiting that."

there is NO "sort of" about it in regards to soundboards the answer is NO!!! And it would be going against the grain...

Unfortunately only auds are downloadable unless you want to go against site and band policy. The band has allowed the soundboards to remain though only if they are streaming only with no downloading. Even though there are technical ways around this it is best for the community and site to follow this policy.

If you want soundboards do yourself a favor and find a torrent site, not only to keep the peace here but you will also be getting a better quality file than if you try to steal it from this site.

Here is a list of those shows:

I'm sorry...I didn't mean to step on toes, and certainly did not mean to go against GD policy. Like I said, I'm new to all this.

Pardon my ignorance, but...what is a "torrent" site?

no worries!!! the issues don't come with asking, the issues come when posts start appearing on how to break ranks and download the soundboards. simply put: no one wants to lose the soundboards.

anyway, torrents are kind of like "cooperative distribution" that make downloading large files such as dead shows simple, though the proper terminology is peer-to-peer sharing. Basically you have a group of people sharing pieces of a common file rather than downloading a single file on an individual basis. A single person (seeder) uses a torrent tracking site to post a file for sharing then others come along and download this file from the seeder's computer. When they download the file, they start sharing it in pieces to other people. Eventually you have a swarm of people exchanging small pieces of the file over the internet and each will get a copy once they have collected all the pieces. It works well and is also a pretty neat concept...

this page should answer general questions on torrents:

I use uTorrent but there are many other apps. The torrent sites normally provide a list of torrent apps that are acceptable for use on their sites.

For a start here is a link to four dead torrent sites:

http://www.live-grateful-dead-music.com/grateful-dead-torrents.html

Pretty much a piece of cake getting it all started, but if you have any questions each of the sites has a fine forum to answer general torrent and specific site questions/issues. Plus there is a knowledgeable bunch on this site as well.

hopefully this helps...ENJOY!!!

i don't think it's about technology. it's about GD band policy. you may boost your self-esteem by posting direct links left and right, but in the end you're doing GD fans a disservice.
